TT2 #1

Solve the following initial value problem
x^3y‴−3x^2y″+6xy′−6y=−24x−1+6lnx

y(1)=−5/6 , y′(1)=−2 , y″(1)=2

This was the first question on term test two. Can someone please tell me where this type of question was covered in the textbook? Thank you in advance!

MAT244 Math--Lectures / Particular Solution Question
« on: December 06, 2014, 01:34:45 PM »
$$y^{(4)}−3y″−4y=\sin(t)+8t.$$

apparently the particular solution is $Y = At\cos(t) + Btsin(t) + Ct + D$

I know why it's $At\cos(t) + Bt\sin(t)$ , but I have no idea where the $Ct + D$ is coming from. Can someone please explain this?

If the Wronskian $W$ of $f$ and $g$ is $3e^{4t}$ , and if $f (t) = e^{2t}$ , find $g(t)$.
